Effective Date: August 3, 2025
This Agreement outlines the terms and conditions for all users of the CoRide app, including drivers and passengers. By using CoRide, you agree to these terms and conditions.
1. Eligibility
To use CoRide:
- Drivers must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance meeting Ontario’s legal requirements.
- Passengers must meet the minimum age set by local regulations (18+ unless accompanied by an adult).
- Drivers must pass background checks, vehicle inspections, and onboarding processes before providing rides.
2. Platform Usage
Users agree to use CoRide in a safe, lawful, and respectful manner:
- Drivers: Operate as independent contractors, not employees. You choose your hours and trips but must meet safety and service standards.
- Account Security: You are responsible for keeping your account login details secure. Sharing accounts is prohibited.
- Vehicle Use: Vehicles must remain safe, insured, and meet CoRide’s operational standards.
3. Earnings and Payments
- Drivers retain 70% of ride fares. The remainder covers platform costs (insurance, payment processing, operations).
- Payments are made bi‑weekly via the banking details provided in your driver profile.
- All earnings comply with Ontario tax reporting requirements; drivers are responsible for their own taxes.
4. Commitment to Ontario Platform Worker Protections
CoRide complies with the Digital Platform Workers’ Rights Act (DPWRA) of Ontario:
- Minimum Wage Guarantee: Drivers earn at least Ontario’s minimum wage for “active time” (from ride acceptance to drop‑off).
- Waiting time (between trips) is not included in this calculation but is transparent in your trip logs.
- Transparency: CoRide shows what passengers pay and what drivers earn on every ride.
- Deactivation Rights: Drivers receive explanations for suspensions and can appeal decisions.
- Access to Records: Trip and earnings history are available upon request.
5. Standards of Conduct
All users must follow community standards:
- No harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behavior.
- Drivers must keep vehicles clean, safe, and comply with seasonal tire regulations.
- Frequent cancellations or rejections may result in temporary suspension or account review.
6. Termination and Suspension
CoRide may suspend or terminate accounts for violations, unsafe conduct, or fraudulent activity. Users will be notified and may appeal decisions through CoRide support.
7. Liability and Insurance
CoRide provides insurance coverage for passengers during trips. Drivers must maintain valid personal insurance. CoRide is not liable for damages outside active trip periods.
8. Dispute Resolution
Disputes are resolved first through mediation. If unresolved, binding arbitration will occur in Ottawa, Ontario, under provincial law.
9. Updates
We may update this Agreement as laws and services evolve. Continued use of CoRide after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
